‘Barrel of a Gun’ Redux

North Korean Army propaganda adds fuel to my pet theory:

According to the article, North Korea developed nuclear weapon for the purpose of self-defense because “˜the vicious American gang leader Bush labeled us one of the axis of evil and rogue states, and declared not to have conversation with us unless his sinister conditions were met.’

The document says the United States bewildered after the North’s declaration of possession of nuclear weapon and then started to yield to Pyongyang.

Therefore the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice “˜recognized North Korea as a sovereign state and confirmed not to invade Pyongyang during her visit to Beijing last July.’ And even South Korea, “˜a puppet of America flattered and kneeled to us.’

Not in reference to missile tests, but it’s the same general idea. (Not mutually exclusive with certain other theories.)

  1. If anyone is a “vicious gang leader”, it is KJI. His government is like the worst mafia.

Some of the insults that NK propaganda uses are self-revealing.

  2. I can’t help but wonder how much of KSI’s propaganda the NK citizens actually believe, eg, developing nuclear weapons because the leader of another country called you a name.

  3. Many North Koreans have no way of knowing the truth as opposed to the propaganda because they have never been outside their country and they don’t have access to other information.

However, outside information is slowly filtering in via secret cellphones, shortwave radios, smuggled videos and DVDs, and information from China. Most North Koreans probably distrust KJI because he has caused so much misery.

  4. Nukes b/c of Bush, nukes b/c of:

When Moscow moved to normalize relations with South Korea in 1989, North Korea unsuccessfully tried to stop it by threatening to quit a global non-proliferation regime and develop nuclear weapons, according to a Russian diplomat’s memoirs available on Tuesday.

  5. i must be in a good mood today because i just had to laugh when i saw this one. maybe because it’s friday.

does anyone have any stats on these propaganda bits that the KCNA or whatever the ‘official’ mouthpiece outputs?

it just seems like a childish book full of madlibs, like the ones i used to do in 2nd grade.
