Also, about the bias thing. This is a blog, not a news outlet, so I am sure opinions do not need to be "fair and balanced".

Anonymous: As you say China is not responsible for the welfare of the North Korean people, no more than are the U.S. or Japan or any other non-Korean nation. And, as you say, North Korean refugees are not a priority over China's own citizens. But China, like any other nation, is responsible for willfully abetting crimes against humanity against a group of civilians, Chinese or foreign. That is, China is obliged, from both moral and legal standpoints, NOT to continue its inhumane policy of forcible repatriation of North Korean refugees. But China routinely rounds up North Korean refugees and forcibly sends them back to North Korea, where cruel and unusual punishment await them.

The subject here is universal human rights and political refugees, not crimes in the inner city in America or China, or even social injustice or inequality before the law. Or is it about illegal immigrants. Mexicans who are caught illegally entering the U.S. and sent back do not end up in political prisoner concentration camps. North Koreans do, so they are political refugees as well as "economic migrants," as China insists on characterizing them.

I'm not sure as to why you feel that China is in any way responsible for North Korean refugees anymore than South Korea, cause it isn't. China is still working on providing for its own people, what is it about these refugees that gives them priority over China's own citizens, a portion of which are probably in even more need then these refugees. You hope that the Beijing Olympics will be a flop, but for what? One free Korea? under the rule of South Korea's current government? I don't think so, why? because even you should know all South Korea is America's lacky, and regardless of what you might say about North Korea, at least North Korea acts on its own will and not as a result of any one else's bidding.

It seems like all the information you get about North Korea is pretty one sided, similar to the information all western nations and people get about countries like North Korea, one sided and biased. It's like going through the worst ghettos of the US and reporting only from those regions of America and those regions only, which is quite misleading wouldn't you say? It's not to say that North Korea and China are the best countries in the world, but they are developing, and I don't know about North Korea, but I do know that even though it may not seem so, the Chinese govt is doing as much as it can for the people, and anyone that didn't go strolling through just the slums of China would meet plenty of people that would say the same.
