You're free to read or not read what you wish, but I think Irene is very much for real. I've seen her comments and posting in other news sites, and although I don't agree with everything she believes, I think her comments are sincere and thoughtful. How interesting would any of this be if we all agreed about everything?

Okay - but it's hard to believe Irene's posts are serious. In any case, they show the same kind of thinking as the ones by NK apologist idiots. That she seems to be on the right side doesn't change things.

Sorry to bring it up. I'll just ignore the comment section from now on.

Selig Harrison's "good will" is misplaced - ironically, he has become a "puppet" of the DPRK regime, speaking on behalf of Kim jong Il himself, instead of on behalf of the people of the DPRK.
We should remind him of the truth about life in North Korea: political prisoners. strict surveillance; in the "countryside", if one ate rice rather than weeds like most other North Koreans in the "countryside", that person would be asked where their rice came from -they would be asked about their movements and who they associated with. If they left home, they would have to report it to the police - anyone could report on others, even on their own family members, for a small benefit. This kind of society cannot exist in the free world of the 21st century, period.
Finally, from Hwang Jang Yop, a man who has paid an immeasurable price for his defection:
"With Kim Jong Il, there will always be biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons posing a threat to us. This is the absolute truth. Therefore the essence of the problem does not lie in getting rid of North Korean nuclear weapons but in overthrowing the Kim Jong Il regime."

Here is more Selig Harrison, msnbc apparently still considers him an expert authority. Rarely does someone see the term "useful idiot" so perfectly demonstrated.
