Seoul Train Screening, Weekly Demonstration, LiNK Gala Live Online

For those living in Seoul, a couple events of note.  Thursday, September 10th, 8-10 p.m., there is a screening of Seoul Train near Hapjeong Station (lines 2 & 6), take exit 5 to Yogiga Gallery.  After the documentary, a couple activists from the film will talk.  Translation will be provided, all are encouraged to attend.  (Disclosure – this is being organized by a member of Justice for North Korea, a group of which I am an active member.  We don’t have a real website yet, but this will serve the purposes of a link, if you really must have one.)

Also, every Friday, starting last week, there is a gathering in front of Pagoda Park in Jongno, Seoul, calling for freedom for the North Korean people.  They chose this month to start because it was 20 years ago that a group of people began weekly demonstrations in Berlin leading up to the fall of the wall.  4-6 p.m. is the main demonstration, and there is a prayer meeting 7-10 p.m.  Jongno 3ga Station (lines 1, 3, 5) – exit 1, then walk 4-5 minutes.

Last but not least, for those of you not able to attend the LiNK Gala in New York City this Saturday night, a friend reminds me that you can watch a special live program over the internet that will include the event itself as well as special interviews.  They have a great line-up of speakers, award recipients, etc.  The online program runs from about 5:30 – 9 p.m. East Coast time on September 12th.
