We Poke the Dragon’s Eye Every Day
Unhappy with the Chinese government? Be kind to the next Falun Gong activist you see. You don’t have to share their beliefs to support their right to practice them.
Not direct enough for you? Then you could decide to attend a worldwide protest in front of Chinese Embassies and consulates worldwide on December 22nd. Our specific grievance is the Chinese government’s repatriations of North Korean refugees back to North Korea, where they face a grim fate.
All of the protests will be held on Wednesday, December 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. So far, two locations are set, Washington (Chinese Embassy, 2300 Connecticut Avenue NW), and at the Chinese Embassy in Seoul. It also sounds like LiNK and other groups are trying to get protests going in other cities as well, so if you feel like doing something worthwhile and have plenty of warm clothing, here are some contacts for you:
- Seoul–Lee Ho-Taek: nkcampaign@yahoo.com
- Washington–Suzanne Scholte, Defense Forum Foundation: skswm@aol.com
- New York, LA, Canada–adrian@linkglobal.org (you’ve heard of LiNK by now, right?)
- Anywhere USA–erin_mccormick@wilberforce.org (an earnest, dedicated Christian group)
They were hoping for RSVP’s last Friday, so don’t delay, although I think they’d probably still accept any help you might offer. Plans still seem somewhat fluid.
