SGT Joshua Ray: Eyewitness to History

The newest addition to my blogroll is Korean Mediator, written by milblogger Sergeant Joshua C. Ray. Sgt. Ray and I struck up an e-mail friendship just a few days ago, at which time he mentioned that he recently returned from a tour in Iraq, is studying Korean at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and that he was an eyewitness to the horrific accident in 2002 that cost two girls their lives, and which was subsequently so shamelessly exploited by anti-American groups. Read Sgt. Ray’s account of what he saw and take the measure of how the pain of that day has left its mark on this young man, who has seen more history that anyone his age should have had to see. Now compare that to the reprehensible smears by Korean boxers and red-vests, who would have you think that these young men were doing high-fives. And all too many South Koreans were eager to believe that our soldiers were such men. This may be a case of what the experts call “projection.”
