If you’ve ever wanted to send a message via radio into North Korea, now you can. Liven up your parties by playing your personal message to Kim Jong-il! Or on a more serious note, defectors and their sponsors can send messages to loved ones still in North Korea. Open Radio for North Korea (nkradio.com) allows you to record a message and pay to have it transmitted into the DPRK and NE China, with a variety of options. Broadcasts are at night on AM and cost US$50-60 for 15 minutes. They also have a “˜language revision’ option whereby the message is edited to conform to Korean language that North Koreans will understand, i.e., cleansed of the many loanwords common in South Korea.
