Someone Please Prosecute This Fool
Prosecution Exhibit A should be this photograph of a South Korean leftist thug putting his hands on a United States Marine. While there are numerous reasons why this is widely considered unwise, those reasons don’t include any reason to fear that the leftist-dominated Korean government will actually prosecute people like this for assault.
“Assault” is what you call it when one person puts his hands on another with hostile intent.
It’s a tribute to this Marine’s discipline that he didn’t give this guy a 5.56mm colostomy. It will also be very telling if the South Koreans, yet again, pass on the opportunity to protect U.S. service members from political violence.
The message to Korea should be this: use your laws to make your country a safe place for our service members, or else learn to live without them.

it takes a new kind of stupid to grab someone carrying that kind of weaponry
It’s smart — he wanted a reaction. We should stop giving them so many opportunities.
If the South Koreans won’t protect their protectors — why protect them?
Thanks much to the ROK Government for not sealing off the beach to the media and these communist wingnuts.
Hey, Korean Embassy in Washington (we know you’re reading this): I hope you enjoy your new masters from the North after the American people get fed up with their commitment to the South Korean people and pull all of their troops. If you don’t think it’s possible, you are deluded. Your own Marines would not have put up with this intrusion on an exercise.
Our guys are showing some real restraint in this. Geez, I just don’t know if I would have the self-control that they are exhibiting here. Talk about the patience of Job!
Can we just pull out our troops from South Korea and let them get invaded and enslaved by the North (with China pulling the strings from above) already? I’m mean really, if the people don’t want the help, why do we have to sacrifice anything for them?
President Roh has a passive-aggressive approach toward the “alliance,” and apparently the “civic groups” in Korea take it as a green light to assault U.S. troops. There’s barely a pretense to law enforcement in Korea anyway, so these guys know they can get away with these stunts.
A more important question is:
If the Iraqis won’t protect their protectors — why protect them?
Well, it’s true we Americans get tired of being the adults. But sometimes somebody has to. Eventually, some of the children wake up and smell the coffee and start realizing what’s good for them again.
Sorry, I guess I’m feeling particularly “American exceptionalist” this morning again.
Hmm. Someone could use a buttstroke to the head. Kudos to that leatherneck for shrugging the pest off and getting back to the job at hand.
Mi Hwa, If you’ll agree that both Iraq and South Korea are dusty, crumbled, war-torn shitholes where extremists, petty thugs, and warlords rule the streets, then I’ll agree your comparison is an apt one.
In which case, I’d say that our vital interests are at stake in Iraq, and not in South Korea, one the world’s richest and must ungrateful nations; ergo, Yankee come home.
And of course, I also favor getting out of Iraq, once the Iraqi army and police are ready to handle matters on their own.
Now, now, now, we don’t wanna be authoritarian ROK Army circa 1979-1980.
Mi-Hwa – you’d been pretty reasonable, relevant and on-topic until that one. Do you have multiple personalities?
Iraqis are willing to protect themselves. And yes, we should let them.
I haven’t seen anywhere near the same responsibility from the South Koreans
Now this appears to be a situation where it would be justifiable to apply the National Security Law. From observing replies to that news article in naver.com, South Koreans seem to be disturbed that the protestors were left intact. These pro-north ‘ethnocentric’ leftwing get very little sympathy from the majority of the ROK population recently.
