The Political Pendulum: The Chosun Ilbo thinks that the Korean blogosphere is turning right. Although the report depends on readers’ ideological self-identification, I do see modest signs that in South Korea, the pendulum is swinging away from the far left. The problem for the Korea right continues to be that it has articulated no vision that has appeal for younger voters. In a word, it’s reactionary.

Engaging the People: American cartoonist Ranan Lurie wants to bring “uniting artwork” to North Korea:

“I want to tell them there is a normal, healthy, prosperous and loving world outside the borders of North Korea,” said Lurie, who arrived in South Korea on Friday to survey sites at which he plans to build artworks to convey a message of peace to North Korea.

Put aside the touchy-feeliness of it all and you have exactly the message that we should want the North Korean people to hear. That’s also why North Korean officials have expressed absolutely no interest in the idea.

Just plain scary: I often blog on the couch with my son sitting next to me. Today, looking over my shoulder, he said, “That’s Kim Jong Il!” He was right. He’s three and a half. We are definitely going to get outside to enjoy the weather today . . . .

An “Attack” by North Korea?: North Korea has flooded out some South Korean fishermen by releasing water from a dam on the Imjin River.

We’re Officially Famous: This blog continues to get regular linkage from the Joongang Ilbo’s column on K-blogs. So far, they’ve done two things I like — they’ve characterized my views fairly, and they’ve inserted links to that readers can see for themselves.

Does anyone know if this column is translated into Korean?
