Comrade Chung Picks Up Kim Jong Il’s Endorsement

In a uniform editorial in three newspapers representing the North’s party, military and youth militia, North Korea has urged South Koreans to prevent the opposition Grand National Party and conservatives from taking power by any means at their disposal. Commenting on South Korea’s presidential election scheduled on Dec. 19, 2007, the editorial said South Koreans from all walks of life should form an anti-conservative grand coalition and take the presidential election as an opportunity to throw out “conservative, pro-American power.”  [link]

In fact, the North Koreans could just as well be calling for the violent overthrow of the South Korea system or the election of the Democratic Peoples’ Labor Party, or even Uri, but since none of those things is a realistic possibility, they’re really throwing in their lot with the Peoples’ Party of Comrade Chung Dong-Young and Kim Geun-Tae, a man who knows whose tune he’s dancing to.

If you happen to be a supporter of the P.P., I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to hold your breath until Comrade Chung and Chairman Kim repudiate the endorsement of the world’s most brutal living dictator.
Expect more rhetoric like this in North and South alike next year.  Here’s the best part:

The editorial comments heavily on economic issues, to the point where the word “economy” features some 34 times. “Developing North Korea into an economic power house is urgent call to advance the revolution and society, a truly rewarding historic mission that will propel North Korea among the leading nations in the world.”

The subtext to that may well be that North Koreans are figuring out how their government has impoverished them.
