The Real Scandal: They Didn’t Use Hollow Points

For the record, any POTUS who would pass up an opportunity to assassinate the terrorists who want to kill me, my family, and my fellow citizens in our own homes and offices should be impeached.

No wonder the New York Times is tanking. After all, don’t we already have one Village Voice?

  1. Do I read here that you are fan of extra-judicial killings? That quite surprises me for I though your pro rule of law and not part of the kill’em-all-terrists crowd.

  2. I’d love to hear your proposal for a lawful, orderly way to prevent terrorists from committing mass slaughter against civilians. Terrorists don’t usually operate in a manner that allows the collection of admissible evidence. The simple-mindedness of criticism implied by words like “extra-judicial” in this context is that the people the terrorists are trying to slaughter are presumed to have no procedural or other rights not to be slaughtered. Something about that seems unjust to me.

So I’m open to any reasonable alternative to letting the terrorists kill Americans. Personally, I wouldn’t be opposed to finding some island where we could build a prison to hold them indefinitely. But I’m sure the Europeans would eventually bitch about that, and some Americans would have their feelings hurt by that (I find it curious that few of them have ever heard of the Isle of Pines, but that’s a whole other post).

Given the available alternatives, I favor the use of well-aimed rounds that miss the civilians the terrorists hide among, and which make the largest possible exit wounds in the terrorists.

  3. I hope, then, that you are equally upset by the supposedly legitimate (‘non-terrorist’)violence which results in the killings of thousands upon thousands of other innocent people and their families in their homes and offices?

  4. I guess that would depend entirely on the accuracy of the premise, the circumstances, and the context, wouldn’t it?

Why do I smell red herring?

  5. Well, to me there is no premise, circumstances, or context in which killing innocent people is justified. But that’s me.

And regarding the red herring comment, you’ve lost me.

  6. Wow. If you can be worked into ditching the rule of law and advocating casual assassinations and/or permanent imprisonment without trial or evidence, I’d hate to think how far you’d go facing an actual threat, as opposed to an isolated bunch of cave dwelling fanatics who possibly arguably conceivably could be a major threat one day.

  7. If you don’t see al Qaeda as an actual threat, then what the fuck do you call this?

You consider the deaths of innocent Americans to be an acceptable cost. You offer no alternative means for us to defend ourselves. There is no reason why I should consider anything you say, since I’m not equally ready to accept the mass murder and terrorization of my fellow citizens. Really, you’re a fine example of why America needs to pay much less attention to world opinion.

  8. I don’t think anyone is for ignoring any threats. The question is, do we farm this type of action out to rogue theocratic crusade driven mercenaries who have their own agenda. Have you read anything about what Blackwater is?

The NYT is like all newspapers in that it is losing circulation. I guess the last newspaper left standing in the US will be Moon’s Washington Times which is fitting because it has played a prime role in the US’s drive away from reality. He has no problem funding it with billions in overseas cash, much of it swindled from widows in Japan. google “spiritual sales japan.”

Check out this panel discussion with three very anti-communist conservative former editors of Moon’s media.

  9. I’m no fan of Moon or the Times, either (I read the Examiner). That’s not what this post is about. It’s about my right as a citizen to have big, spraying exit wounds drilled out of these people before they hurt me or my family.

If your point is that you’d prefer that these things be done by the CIA Directorate of Operations or U.S. Army Special Forces snipers, I won’t argue. But I refuse to concede on the hollow points. There are only two kinds of “good” terrorists — the kind who talk under interrogation and dead ones.
