As If That Were Still Possible
North Korea’s new constitution gives even more power to Kim Jong Il. Unless it suspends the laws of physics, I’m at a loss as to what powers His Withing Majesty did not already possess. Does anyone believe that Kim Jong Il has spent the last ten years stewing about how people would be eating meat three times a day if only he had a line-item veto?
“The chairman of the National Defense Commission (NDC) is the supreme leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).” Forget Kim — doesn’t this indicate a military coup was effected last April, since it states that whoever, in future, is chairman of the NDC is Supreme Leader? This isn’t about Kim Jong Il, but about the succession. The young Un is unlikely to be Chairman, so it indicates that some other personalities have already staked out claims on the Supreme Leadership.
GlobalSecurity.org reported that in April the NDC was increased from six to twelve members and…”The National Defense Commission was bolstered by the addition of one more vice chairman and four additional members, each of whom previously had dealings with military affairs. Kim appointed his brother-in-law Jang Song Thaek to the all-powerful National Defense Commission. Jang, who is married to Kim’s younger sister, is widely expected to play a major role in guarding Kim’s succession.”
Remember last March and April there were some strange interventions by the military on TV and in border closures –plus, of course the missile and atomic tests. It looks like there was a power change and, together with the reports that the Communist Party’s ideals are “difficult to achieve’ it suggests that North Korea is now wholly in the control of the “military-industrial labor camp” complex.
