Worthy Causes
I’m often contacted by readers who want to know what they can do for the people of North Korea. There are many worthy organizations helping the North Korean people — both inside and outside North Korea — but these are the ones I know best and respect the most.
- Scholarly research on human rights in North Korea: The Committee for Human Rights in North Korea
- Political activism on behalf of the North Korean people: The North Korean Freedom Coalition
- Guerrilla journalism from inside North Korea: Rimjingang, The Daily NK
- Broadcasting to North Korea: Free North Korea Radio
- Refugee rescue and resettlement: Liberty in North Korea, Helping Hands Korea
- Political organizing among North Koreans in exile: NK Net
- Refugee assistance in South Korea: People for Successful Reunification in Korea
I lived in South Korea for 3 years as an ESL teacher. I would like to get involved with any volunteer work related to North Korea while I am in the U.S. (NYC region).
My grandparents survived the Holocaust. Recently I went on a trip with a group of fellow Jewish teenagers to Poland, where we visited Auschwitz, Majdanek and Treblinka. When I came across your site today I just couldn’t believe that this sort of cruelty exists to this day. I don’t know much about the crisis in North Korea and would like to know more. Is there a newsletter that I can subscribe to online for free? It’s not that I don’t think that such a newsletter would be worth paying for, it’s just that I’m a student and I don’t have lots of money
PS I thought I should tell you that when I tried to open some of the thumbnails on your website on my Android phone it didn’t work
