What Those Guys Need is a SOFA

[Warning: This post rated R!] Let me get this straight–horny Korean businessmen go to China, get caught using illegal drugs, and where do they expect to be tried? Where does their government want them tried? EXACTLY! In Korea!

Under Korean law, Korean police retain jurisdiction over any crimes committed by its citizens while traveling overseas.

Un. Fucking. Real. Possession, though, is nine-tenths of the law, and these fellows are very fortunate to have returned home before the Chinese authorities caught up with them. I eagerly await the extradition request!

And reading this story and this one, and what’s in between the lines, I get the idea that date rape drugs were also involved somehow. Just exactly what would happen if an American soldier got caught doing something like that? This quote was quaint, on more than one level.

According to the NIS, women tourists are then prone to having sex with Chinese men working at exclusive women-only clubs there, while the Korean men do the same at hostess bars.

Either that’s some shitty writing or we’ve just seen the birth of Korean gay sex tourism (already shuddering at the traffic that phase is going to bring in). What I don’t get is why they’re going to hostess bars to have sex with Chinese dudes. Isn’t that going a bit far to keep it in the closet? As to the “prone to” business, on further thought, it would take a whole lot of rufies to make me do a Chinese guy . . . but Joan Chen and/or Michelle Yeoh, now that would be another matter entirely, had they the courtesy to appear before Mrs. OFK did, of course. ht Occidentalism.
